14° Settimana del Tempo Ordinario

Veniamo invitati a seguire Cristo, pur così poveri e fragili come siamo, soprattutto col dedicarci alla preghiera e alla purezza del cuore. Sta qui l’autenticità della vita monastica: dopo aver lasciato tutto aderire a Dio.

15° Settimana del Tempo Ordinario

Ci dobbiamo indossare di nuovo la veste della purezza per poter amare l’assolutezza del Vangelo.

Praticament ciò significherebbe far coniugare la mitezza con l’umiltà,

così cancellando la miseria dal cuore di nostro fratello

in tal modo che ci prepariamo per una preghiera piacente al Signore.

16° Settimana del Tempo Ordinario

Per vivere in Cristo, occorre mangiarlo avidamente, in fretta.
Questo pane pieno di delizie nutre il gran mistero dell’unione di Dio con l’anima.
L’eucaristia, che ci sostiene, ci guida e ci purifica, è il cibo del popolo di Dio,
segno efficace dell’unità del Corpo mistico di Cristo.

17° Settimana del Tempo Ordinario

Svogliatezza o fervore, suscettibilità o rendimento di grazie,
ecco i segni di una vita donata a Dio oppure al peccato.
Purezza e conversione dei costumi conducono alla vera preghiera che è conformità alla volontà di Dio.
I frutti dello Spirito Santo e la carità sono i frutti che Dio cerca in noi.

Per il monaco il retto uso dei beni consiste nel far opera di discernimento.
L’ideale di non possedere nulla in vista della gioia eterna e definitiva
va di pari passo con la sobrietà monastica.
Per finire, la misura di tutto è l’amore!

14-18 Sundays in Ordinary Time

14^th Sunday of the Year

We are called to follow Christ, notwithstanding our poverty and fragility, above all by dedicating ourselves to prayer and purity of heart. This is were an authentic monastic life may be found: after having left everything, to adhere oneself to God.

15^th Sunday of the Year

We need put on again a dress of purity to be able to love the absoluteness of the Gospel.

In practice, this means marrying together mildness and humility,

erasing the sadness from our brother’s heart

in such way as to prepare ourselves for a prayer which is pleasing to the Lord.

16^th Sunday of the Year

To live in Christ, it need be that you eat him greedily and in haste.

This bread, full of delight, nourishes the big mystery of God’s union with us.

The Eucharist, which sustains us, guides us and purifies us, is the food of the faithful in an efficacious sign of the unity of the Mystical Body of Christ.

17^th Sunday of the Year

Indifference or fervour, touchiness or thankfulness, are the signs of a life given up to God or to sin.

Purity and changing one’s way of life all lead to true prayer which means complying with the will of God.

The fruits of the Holy Spirit and charity are the fruits which God looks for within us.

18^th Sunday of the Year

For a monk, the proper use of goods consists in performing acts of discernment.

The ideal of not possessing anything in view of eternal and definitive happiness goes hand in hand with monastic level headedness.

To cap it all up, love is the measure of everything!
